“Beautiful” singer Christina Aguilera and her new boyfriend, Matt Rutler, were arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The star was cited for public intoxication, while her boyfriend was booked on a DUI charge in West Hollywood. While representatives of the star deny the fact that she was indeed charged, the LA Sheriff’s Department representative Steve Whitmore said she was technically:
“[Aguilera] was not capable of taking care of herself. She was incapacitated, she was cooperative, she was not belligerent in any way whatsoever. She was just intoxicated. So what we do is that we do indeed arrest the individual on a misdemeanor public intoxication, but we have no desire to prosecute,” the department’s Steve Whitmore said. Aguilera was subsequently released when she was “able to navigate and think on her own” at around 10:30 yesterday morning. Meanwhile, Rutler’s bail was set at $5000.
