Kasi 101 celebrates Kwaito music and showcases it’s evolution. Today, Lungsta sits with the seasoned self-acclaimed King Don Father of Kwaito and hit maker, Spikiri. Mandla Spikiri is one of the founding members of Trompies and co-owner of Kalawa Jazzmee, a stable renowned for pioneering kwaito and introducing iconic groups like Boom Shaka, Bongo Maffin, Trompies and many other Kwaito contributions over the years.
Spikiri, is celebrating 25 years in music and has worked with almost all the big names in the music industry including Skwatta Kamp, Louie Vega, Busi Mhlongo, Oskido , Hugh Masekela, Don Laka and has produced hit tracks such as Current, Trompies’ Sgiya Nengoma, Vokol by Alaska, Vat & Sit and many many more. In 2011, to celebrate his quarter century in the business, whilst still at the top of his game,he released King Don 2.5 with the first single Ngeke Balunge featuring Teargas, Bricks, Madluphuthu, Skhokho and Brown Dash.
