Eclectic R&B artist Mike Posner says his sophomore album, ‘Sky High’, due out in March, will shut down the genre.
Michael Robert Posner aka Mike Posner as he is affectionately known in his cool circles will be releasing his sophomore album Sky High in March this year. Posner debuted worldwide in 2010 with 31 Minutes to Takeoff and has proven over the years that he is more than just an R&B singer-songwriter. His music is an eclectic fuse of urban pop and soul, with a bit of hip-hop influence. In March 2009, as an unreleased artist, he released his first mixtape A Matter of Time recorded in his dorm room, it went up to number one on iTunes. His second mixtape One Foot Out The Door (featuring collabos with 3Oh!3, Bun B, Kid Cudi, Wale) came out on the threshold of his debut album. In the same fashion,the 23 year old Sociology and Business graduate dropped his third mixtape The Layover with 21 tracks in November of 2011, making way to his follow up.On The Layer he features rappers Slim Thug, CyHi Da Prynce, Machine Gun Kelly, Big K.R.I.T. and a couple of covers, including Adele‘s Rolling in the Deep.
In an interview with All Hip Hop Posner revealed that he done three tracks for with renowned hip-hop producer, Pharrell, for the upcoming album. Sky High will have the same vibe and feel as the mixtape, but will sound much better and might have more dope appearances. The crooner shared that,”I write hip-hop music about women and getting high, but instead of rapping them I sing.” A confident singer concluded that,”if you’re an artist thinking about coming out in 2012, you might want to reconsider.” The first single already enjoying some airplay is called She looks like Sex.
Mike Posner started off making beats for R&B singer and good friend, Big Sean. His debut album 31 Minutes to Takeoff with the hot singles Cooler Than Me , Please Don’t Go and Bow Chicka Wow Wow featuring Lil’ Wayne earned him an AMA nomination and an American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) Award.
